The yet to be famous bhut jolokia pepper from India. Has yet to make a big splash here as of yet.
With some entrepreneurs, marketers and I would imagine farmers projecting to make a profit from the
facinating fruit so hot that it reportedly repels elephants(disputed by at least one).
To those interested I have good and bad news to share.
First the bad news that could be good. Gardening and landscaping has been my trade for the last 20 yrs
Iv'e grown halbreneros and jalepenos from seed without the aid of greenhouses, seedling heat mats or
any special treatment successfully. These plants are a pain to grow in Northern California. Insects,
cold snaps(50 degrees or lower!)and my rough handling(moving the potted plants and tearing small
earth bound roots) have caused everything from mild shock to death. I'm sure not everyone is having
as hard a time growing the hot pepper however I have heard similar complaints.
This could be good for the market if you are a farmer or salesman. Hard to grow-higher price, maybe?
At first I offered plants for sale @$5.00 to $20. Now I would not sell them for less than $100.00
a piece. Not planning on selling any bhut jolokia plants, focus is now on getting hot peppers and
seeds to sell.
The not so bad news is that I am not seeing the interest in growing the hottest pepper in the
world or the pepper itself offered at any markets at least here in California. So to any farmers
or distributors out there contact us at the address below. I am willing to promote your product while
